A Sincere Witness

A great quote i heard today by Jeff Durbin.

It is not up to you or me to convince anyone into the kingdom. However, I think that one of the most important things we can do as we engage people is to pay close attention to
1 Peter 3:15 (NIV)

15 But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,

One of the most important things we can do to dissarm somebody is to stop trying to be the one that wins.

Win the person not the argument.

Which means that you should respect and love somebody, treat them with humility… But when necessary breathe fire.

When you are witnessing and they start to believe that’s to the Glory of God and it’s His work not yours.

It is important to let go of the reins in trying to manipulate the conversation and the person, and recognize that if they are ever going to get any light into their heart, it’s because God is going to put it there.

Our role is to testify to the truth. To just tell the truth.
